Prior to founding Foremark, Clark’s corporate career included leadership roles as chief development officer for Quality Dining, Inc. and vice-president of real estate and development for Brinker International, Inc.
In 1986, he joined Chili’s Inc., subsequently renamed Brinker International, Inc., where he was responsible for property development and construction management of new restaurants, then for selection and acquisition of sites for this high growth company. In 1989, he became director of real estate for the firm, which had grown to 181 restaurants, and was responsible for directing real estate strategy and acquisition of sites for Chili’s, Macaroni Grill, Grady’s American Grill and Spageddies
Clark was promoted to vice-president of real estate in 1990 and assumed the additional responsibility of the property development department in 1993. In 1994, he led a team of 28 people responsible for the acquisition and development of 110 new restaurants at a cost of more than $250 million.
When Clark left Brinker, the firm had grown to six concepts with more than 550 restaurants and $1.3 billion revenues. He left the company with the current fiscal year expansion plan complete, the following fiscal year’s plan approved by committee and more sites approved for two subsequent years.
Clark graduated from the University of Georgia in 1984 and received a Masters of Business Administration from Southern Methodist University in 1993. Clark, his wife and four children live in Dallas, Texas.
